Protective Order Program
Protective Order Program
We are here to help: if you are a survivor of domestic violence and need an attorney at your Title 46 Protective Order Hearing, call (337) 237-4700. To apply you must have already been granted a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO). You can also apply in person at 2607 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA. If you apply in person please bring the TRO, driver’s license, and any copies of police reports, photos of injuries, medical records, or pertinent evidence.
It is important to understand that this service is limited representation only and the obligations of the volunteer attorney will not go beyond the Protective Order Hearing/Rule. This means the attorney cannot offer you any legal advice nor represent you in any other legal matter or future proceedings.
For further help and support, survivors of domestic violence may contact the Family Justice Center of Acadiana. The Family Justice Center of Acadiana is a multi-disciplinary collaborative initiative dedicated to providing an effective response to survivors of family violence.
If you are an attorney who would like to take protective order cases pro bono, please call us at 337-237-4700 Ext. 102 to speak with the Director of Pro Bono Services.
